Website Accessibility Page

Hargrave Parish Council's website is fully compliant with accessibility standards. If you would like an alternative format for any content or have any accessibility issues please contact the clerk on either 01284 85011 or email: hargraveparishcouncil@gmail.com

Please note that this policy is only applied to the Parish Council section of the Village website. Every effort is made to ensure that other parts of the site do comply but are not strictly monitored.

The Equality of Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the 'accessibility' regulations). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint. Contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Some of our PDFs documents provide information to the public. For example, we have PDFs of historic minutes. From September 2020 any documents loaded onto the website will include the following: Alternative text to be provided with visuals; meaningful hyperlink text added; colour is not used to convey information; sufficient contrast is used for text and background colours; built in headings and styles are used; table structures to be simple with column header information.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23rd September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix copies of minutes.

The following actions have been undertaken to improve access:

Ensure use of proper headings;
Pages checked to ensure they are usable when style sheets are disabled;
Instructions are properly styled;
Link texts make sense;
Adding descriptive page titles;
Adding meaningful titles to documents and folders;
Image charts and tables have a description.

This statement was prepared on 30/07/2021.

This website was last tested on 30/07/21. The test was carried out by the website administrator for Hargrave Parish Council (non-technical/basic test).

We carried out a detailed assessment of the following pages which had good examples of the items that needed testing:

Home page - access to site
Meeting dates and agenda’s – text based content page
Village Hall – images
Minutes pages – Containing PDF documents
Neighbourhood Plan pages – all of the above

As this was the first test, all Parish Council pages were checked and any anomalies corrected.
